Each year seems to go faster and faster and this year is no exception. I have to admit that December, Christmas and New Year is my favourite time of the year. I know a lot of people who find it quite overwhelming but I love it. There are more chat ups with friends, sunny days and laughter. Our tree is up and decorated. It looks amazing full of butterflies, birds and flowers. There’s something in the air this time of year, it’s full of hope and celebration.

If your anything like us, you’ve already started celebrating. We just tried our first treat of Christmas pudding with custard last night. It was quite sweet so just a little went a long way. As always, the next day is full of delicious healthy green smoothies and lots of salads. Life should be enjoyed so a few treats over the Christmas period is great. Just balance it out with some healthy food and smoothies and you’ll come through this festive season in the best shape ever.

1 large banana
1-2 handfuls of spinach

1 mango
1 thick slice of pineapple
1-2 handfuls of silver beet
Water

The Kiwi Bird
2 kiwi fruit
2 apples
1 banana
1-2 handfuls of kale
Water

  1. I find that sometimes smoothies made with a lot of dark green leafy vegetables have an off putting aroma. I tried a dash of vanilla essence in them and it masks the smell without changing the flavour. I might try mint or parsley as well.

  2. Hi Helen,
    If the leafy greens smell a little overpowering, maybe add in a little less. The smell may also vary from green to green. Spinach is usually a good one. Make sure your greens are as fresh as possible, that might make a difference.
